One of the biggest benefits that make the Naturepedic crib mattresses worth it is the many actual stores throughout the USA where we can test, touch, feel, and ask an expert many questions. You can also search the Internet for the best price after you have decided on a model based on your testing in the store.
So you get the best of both worlds. I researched the locations of stores in the larger cities to help you see the brick-and-mortar coverage Naturepedic has in the US.
Naturepedic crib mattresses are worth it for people with disposable income, wanting the best for their infant or toddler, with allergy concerns, want a long-lasting mattress, want two firm options in one, concerned about chemicals, and need to feel confident in the company.
Update Jan 7, 2023: 15% off sale on their website here and they now have a huge selection on Amazon here.
Who Would Think Naturepedic Crib Mattress is Worth It
Parents With Disposable Income
There are four models to choose from and all of them have prices that place them in the higher cost bracket. I used to be of the mindset of buy cheap and replace as needed. Well, my ex-wife beat into my head that it is much better to buy the best once. I have to admit this has worked much better, even though it goes against my “cheap” nature haha.
Benefits of buying the best include:
- Long life (durability)
- Maintains shape and comfort
- Confidence if the quality of the materials and construction
- Substantially lower likelihood of needing to submit warranty claims or trail period returns
- Better after-purchase support if needed (higher priced products come with higher customer service expectations)
Parents Wanting to Provide the Best
“Back in the day” there was very little information about the importance of quality sleep and the materials children spend much of their life on every day. “Be happy you have a bed” haha.
If Allergies Are a Concern
I remember having bad allergies when I was a teenager. Well, I learned later in life that I am allergic to wool, feathers, and many other natural materials.
My pillows had feathers and my bedroom carpet was wool haha. But my parents and I never really thought much about it. Ok, so you sniffle and sneeze a lot, deal with it. Times have changed a lot I think!
Allergic sensitivity to cotton is actually quite uncommon, even in workers in textile and processing plants

Models, such as the Classic model, use organic cotton that is free of toxic chemicals and materials. This also applies to its adult-size models and you can read about my thoughts on those at Is Naturepedic Worth It.

For Parents Wanting a Crib Mattress to Last Longer
Offering two-sided crib models is brilliant. One side is for when your child is younger and lighter. As your child grows and gains weight you can simply flip it to the softer, less firm, side. Two models offer this great design:
- Classic ($259)
- Breathable ($349)
Parents Concerned About Chemicals
Many cribs and regular-sized brands use harsh chemicals in the materials and manufacturing process. Thankfully, the world is becoming much more knowledgeable and concerned with environmental issues that can negatively affect the health of our family.
Now, most mattresses are made with a mix of polyurethane foam, synthetic latex, and conventional cotton, all of which present their own special kind of trouble.

Naturepedic has the top certifications to back up its claims of quality natural materials and manufacturing processes. Some companies use certification companies that are not as difficult to obtain so make sure to compare certifications before buying a mattress for your child.
The three certifications the company have are:
- Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
- Made Safe
- UL/Greenguard
These three certifications are listed in the article The Most Important Green Mattress Certifications so you can feel confident making a purchase from Naturepedic.
…‘green’ mattress certifications are a slippery thing. Not all certifications are created equal…while others offer meaningless platitudes that could apply to something as tiny as the cotton used on a label.

Customer Service and Warranty
Naturepedic has been around a long time and it is safe to say that they are here to stay. This means that they can fulfill any warranty claims in the future. Many of the new companies are not going to be around for long so you might be left without any support for your purchase.
Also, in my experience and research, I have found that the newer companies have not yet learned how important customer service is. They seem to focus on making the sale and not much else matters.
I have also seen companies that pump up the marketing to drive as many sales as possible only to close the doors and start a new company as soon as the complaints and returns start.
Please let me know in the comments below if you agree or disagree and why. Thanks. And check out my article about the best 5 models here and where to buy a Naturepedic crib mattress here.
